Communication, Compliance and Resistance in Inter-Contextual Encounters

For a few decades now, translation and interpreting studies has been interested in uncovering and explaining compliant and resistant translational behaviors and processes. By doing so, it has become increasingly capable of contributing to critical theoretical discussions. The articles in this issue investigate the effect that economic and political powers have on the movement of texts and the ways in which agents active in the field negotiate their (potentially) subversive actions.

The Representation of Current Social Issues in the Contemporary Crime Novel

The contemporary crime novel is a sensitive seismograph capturing the urgent social problems of our time. Drawing on linguistically and culturally diverse material, this issue explores the main outlines of this phenomenon in a wider context. It presents case studies (six literary and two linguistic) dealing with relevant works by authors from different literatures (Joseph Incardona, Hansjörg Schneider, Josef Haslinger, Zygmunt Miłoszewski, Mirjana Novaković, Vladimir Kecmanović, Manuela Vázquez Montalbán, Leonardo Padura, Jens Lapidus, and Dominik Dán).

The Language of Transcendent Experience in Literary-Phenomenological Interpretation

This issue is thematically focused on the language of transcendent experience, especially the category of inexpressibility, as it has been captured in the history of European literature by texts with artistic or aesthetic value. The individual studies, in the form of literary interpretation or philosophical reflection, seek to examine the balance between the transcendental experience and the words that capture it. The intellectual impulse behind this reflection, anchored in the dialogue of literary science and phenomenology, is the work of the contemporary French philosopher Jean-Luc Marion, especially the concept of the saturated phenomenon.

National and Transnational Frameworks in European Literatures

Comparative literature has been associated with national and supranational frameworks since its inception, and their relationship in literature and in the formation of identities is one of the key aspects of the present. It is a relationship formed in multidimensional socio-political and broader cultural processes. Perceptions of them change as the discipline itself changes. Studies in the thematic block show various aspects of the current understanding of the transnational as a concept that goes beyond thinking about literature in the national context.
